WHY SELF PUBLISHING?
On 2018 I won a writing contest that got me my first book publication. It was through a publishing house/editorial.
I was in a contract for 3 years and my experience did not go as I imagined it would (more details of the whole process on my Spotify podcast Nostalgias Fronterizas).
I learned a lot about publishing but also was limited and lacked the creative freedom I desire as a creative that loves freedom... therefore I decided to do it on my own.
AlthoUgh self publishing requires more physical & emotional
labor (+$$$$$$),there is nothing better than having agency and be in direct contact with your readers!
On April of 2022 I decided to self publish after applying to over 115 jobs with no luck.The moment I hit “publish” I sold 200 books in 3 minutes!!
I went through the process alone, figuring it out as I went with lots of trial and error, investing my own time and money
and as of Dec 2023 I have sold around 15,000 books and want to give back to people like me with dreams just like mine except you don’t have to do it lost and alone.
Self published authors are real authors too!!

WHAT IS INCLUDED?
★$777.77 that can be used towards self publishing process.
★Virtual consultation (or in person if in San Diego/Los Angeles area) post announcement with Vianney Harelly in regards to book details.
★1 on 1 virtual meetings with Vianney Harelly (dates determined with chosen author) before, during and after publishing *Check ins, lessons from my experience, marketing tips based on audience and more*
★1 promotional video & post from Vianney Harelly on her instagram (41k) and tiktok (164.k)
★Cover art and title brainstorming & support (if not yet created).
★Final book revision & commentary.
REQUIREMENTS
*United States (for shipping reasons with Lulu self publishing). Spanglish, Spanish or English accepted.
*Only poetry or short story no more than 200 pages (not very familiar with novels)
*Submissions only accepted through EMAIL vhcwriting@gmail.com with “Palabras Grant” as subject (No DM). Please submit as pdf attachments by FEB 5
Include name, pronouns, date written and # of total pages for the entire book.
*Must submit 10 pages of completed work that will be ready for publication no later than fall of 2024.

honesty and vulnerability of work in relation to the time, culture and space,
how ready is the author to be self published and supported through the process
